Brewarrina LALC develops its media platforms.
Updated: Jun 26
After a website upgrade the Brewarrina LALC began looking into its media reach. Our organisation is supported by a state body, run by a group of passionate members and a determined board, and unfortunately we only have a staff of one. Recently out of administration our organisation, and community, has struggled for many years in an attempt to overcome generations of disadvantage. Without government support our community has come together and begun to grow. This is perhaps demonstrated by a membership of 228 and a facebook page that has grown to achieve over 800 followers. It would appear that the Brewarrina LALC has a growing support base. As one of the nations most vulnerable communities we faced extreme risk during the Corona Virus pandemic. In response to this the LALC teamed up with the local council, local police and local hospital to roll out a number of control measures. In a community with a lack of resources these leading organisations worked hand in hand, staying on the front foot, and demonstrated what could only be classified as best practice. There were no confirmed cases in Brewarrina - an outcome of which the entire community can be proud of. Not only was the stewardship within our community demonstrated by leading organisations, but also by our fans who came together to spread the word. We did a facebook post to help promote awareness about the risk to our community. In response our facebook fans shared this post 91 times allowing our post to reach over 7,000 people. Thank you. Today, as the world goes a little crazy, the Brewarrina LALC is developing its social media platforms. Our website and facebook platforms will be supported by a 'blog' or 'latest news' component linked to our website. Our news stories will also be posted on facebook so please like our facebook page and share our stories when we produce them. We look forward to bringing you many positive news stories as our community continues to grow and develop. We also seek to make our social media platform because of negative news stories. The reality is that we are one of many 'at-risk' communities in the country. If this pandamic isn't over, and the growing number of cases put us at risk again, we would like to think there are people out their to support us. So join us as we work hard to turn negative stories into positive ones. You can show your support for us by liking and sharing our posts. It is empowering to know we are all in this together and that we are not alone. https://www.brelalc.org/
