The CRL season got under way at Brewarrina on the weekend, and what an event it turned out to be. Teams from all over the region came to Brewarrina for our open day which combined both ladies league tag and junior leauge games. A big thanks goes out to Dice Contracting and Warruwi Gambling Help who sponsored our girls team making our participation possible. In response, our girls turned up in force with 20 young ladies wearing our great new ladies uniforms. Our first game of the year was against a passionate Walgett team. With the guests establishing a half time lead the game ended up a nail biter as they held off our girls off to win 20-14. Our ladies had an excellent game with Bianca scoring early points, then Tiona leading the charge to the finish pulling two tries out of nowhere. Approaching the full time hooter, our girls were breaking there defensive line everywhere. Jamalia, Jenna, Tara, Prascilla down the wing; we were so close to evening the score, but the determined girls from Walgett held us off. Congratulations Walgett, it was a well fought battle and a pleasure to watch two respectful teams in action. Although the game was not won by Brewarrina, the weekend was. Some big congratulations must go out to the organisers and their volunteer supporters; and that includes all the children who helped on the day. The event was incredibly well run, it was a very pleasant / family friendly atmosphere, and it ended up being a great day for all.
